Anybody can say there hot tub cost a dollar a day to operate. But what does that really mean?  And are they telling you the truth. Here is an easy breakdown of what it costs to operate a Hot Spring Spa versus just about anything else you can find out there.
 All of Ohio Pools and Spas Hot Springs Models come with a Silent Flo circulation pump. This pump is so efficient that it only costs $6.34 a month to run. The remarkable thing about this is for that amount of money your hot tub is being filtered, receiving ozone, and getting sanitizer 24 hours a day. It also makes sure that your hot tub is ready when you are at the predetermined temperature.

Likewise many other spas will just run a two speed pump on low speed for eight hours a day. The rest of the time your water is stagnant and not receiving the sanitizer and ozone it needs to make the water crystal clear. The cost of the low speed pump is $48.04 a month. Keep in mind that these costs do not even count running your pump on high speed while you enjoy it. Over the life of five years the Silent Flo can save you over $2500 in just electrical costs over a five year span.

As the winter weather quickly approaches (try not to cringe) people are looking for a way to hold on to the last of the warm summer days.  I know that I’m one of them!  One thing that I have found that soothes the winter blues is, believe it or not, a SAUNA! 

Until recently, I really never considered it as a viable option for relaxing, but hey, in Northeast Ohio, you have to do what you can to stay warm.  As I started using it, not only did it keep me warm, but I started noticing some cool benefits.  I felt more energized throughout the day, my skin improved and I was sleeping like a rock.  Seriously, not even the end of the world could wake me up!  This thing has changed the way I live! 

As I did more research I discovered that the sauna was the reason for these changes. I thought that might gain your attention. Although my Hot Spring Spa did not give me the Heimlich maneuver, or cure me from some disease, it has helped give me a new life. For the better part of the past decade I have been what most people would call FAT. Even I called myself fat to one shield me from the constant harassment, but also because I was.

Then I had a hot tub on order. I was very self conscious about my weight; I decided that enough was enough. I was tired of the fat jokes, I was tired of people asking me if I was pregnant, or being the fat guy with the hot wife, or even my two year daughter wanting to jump on “daddy’s fat belly”. Mostly I did not want my wife or two year old girl see me without a shirt on. I joined a gym and started exercising, which led to me starting to eat better so the working out wasn’t a waste of time.

When summer time hit, I decided to start running. I remember my first mile run took around 18 minutes, and then I did three miles in 53 minutes. As time went on my times got shorter and the miles got longer. This week I ran 17 miles. Not too shabby. I also decided to run a marathon. Not only can I now take my shirt off when I use the hot tub, but I am not too overly embarrassed to run without my shirt on.

The hot tub was more than just the impetus to get moving, it also helped me move. After a run or a workout a made getting in the hot tub part of my routine, and it made a noticeable difference in my recovery time. Instead of being sore for several days, there was minimal soreness, which allowed me to keep moving. I know that if I did not have my hot tub I would not be able to run a marathon and I certainly would never have lost the 40+ pounds that I have in six months.

So even though my hot tub did not pull me out of a fiery car crash I truly believe that it did save my life. It got me motivated, it made me feel better faster, and it kept me moving. And there has not been an award I have won, or a better feeling in my heart, then when my two year daughter told me “Daddy your belly isn’t fat anymore.” My Hot Tub saved my life, time and time again.
