I’m doing FANTASTIC. It’s the common phrase I use when asked the common question of, “How are you doing?” It is too often that I hear the question asked, and most of the time it is often asked in an almost apathetic and rhetorical way, because let’s be perfectly honest, most people don’t really care how you are doing, they are simply asking you the question out of respect to human pleasantries. My response to that question used to be, “Fine, and you?” Said with the same apathy and rhetoric that it was asked upon me… but recently I have changed, my heart has grown 3 sizes, and much like the Grinch at the end of that classic tale, I have realized there is something more important to life than pleasantries and feigning interest in my fellow man or woman’s lives, and that is to actual BE interested in their lives. It only takes a slight bit more effort, and yet reaps an immensely greater reward. For, as our National Sales Trainer Scott Iverson for Hot Spring Spas has said, “Life is interesting, be interested.”

Lately, to be exact on the time it was after our company Christmas Party, I have added to my “Fantastic” response, since on that wonderful evening we had found out that Ohio Pools and Spas had just had the best year in our entire company’s history in 2011. Although it may seem like bragging or boasting, I think to a lot of our customers, they may enjoy hearing about how “Fantastic” I am doing, as in a time such as this, with gas prices where they are, and the economic struggles that the world is facing, I think it is nice to hear a success story. It shows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and that it is sometimes darkest just before the dawn. I know not what 2012 has in store for Ohio Pools and Spas, I just know that I will be here, and I will be doing my best job to be “Fantastic” since not only do I have reason to be “Fantastic” I also feel that I should share that with others, and not just customers, or potential customers, but to my co-workers, friends and family members outside of the walls of Ohio Pools and Spas. So, be prepared when you casually ask me how I am doing, because you will get a response that will not be generic or expected, and hopefully it makes your day a little bit better to hear that someone is doing fantastic.

With the warm weather comes one of my favorite things, SWIMMING!  I can’t wait to peel back my cover get things fired up so I can hop in when the water is up to temperature.  I know I may seem a bit bias but just for a second:  close your eyes and envision your feet in the water, cool beverage in your hand and the sun beating down on your face… There is nothing like it in the world.  I don’t know that any part of the country appreciates it more than us!
